Outside Project

Well, I have decided that it is now time to start some landscaping and outdoor projects. I thought I would start with something simple...a goldfish pond. Right when you pull down the driveway there is a corner of the house that was a huge eye sore. The previous owner had an obsession with those wild orange flowers that grow on the side of the road because they are planted everywhere at our house. Well they planted a bunch of them in this corner. Last year they grew so big that it nearly swallowed our house, not to mention looked like a jungle. I feared that the dogs may get lost in it or worse yet there would be a snake! So, all winter I have been picking my brain as to what to do in this corner. Well I finally decided to put in a goldfish pond. Gabe's answer was great, who can you hire to do those in our area. My answer was us, it will be fun. So I spent many nights researching how to install these ponds, what pumps, filters, liners etc. I just love youtube and can learn to do anything from these. So as soon as the weather warmed up we started our project. I love it. It made a huge difference in the curb appeal of our house. Although Gabe would argue that curb appeal doesn't matter because no one sees our house from the road, but it matters. Here are a few pictures of the project from start to finish. I wish I had a picture from last summer to show how awful those plants were but I don't.

This is the before picture.

The digging process. I think this was about the time Gabe told me
I would probably fit in this hole. Next time, I will rent some heavy machinery.

The finished hole.

Gabe finishing the sand base.

Filling the pond with water. Almost finished.

Adding the lights and fountain.

Landscaping.

The only thing left to do is stain the wood to match the deck but since it has rained everyday the last 2 weeks, this may be a while.

Honeymoon

Gabe and I had the most amazing Honeymoon at Secrets Excellence in Mexico. We loved this place 10x more than any other place that we have been too. We had our own swim out pool off of our room which made it nice to swim late at night or for more alone time. We also went on our first Mexico excursion. T
his was a big step for me getting off the resort because the driving in Mexico makes me very nervous and anx
ious, but I sucked it up and we made it into Cancun to do a Jungle excursion. We got to take speed boats along the coast of Cancun, then through some thick branches and out to the coral reef. We then got to snorkel. It was a lot of fun but snorkeling is very exhausting.

The night life at the resort was so much fun. We met a lot of couples our age that were there on their honeymoons as well, so it gave us a large group of people to hang out with. There was a disco in the lobby w
hich was a completely new experience for me. Lets just say they mix the drinks strong and people become fearless.

The craziest thing ever was during one of our dinners there was a couple next to us that we struck up a conversation with. The guys quickly came to realize that they were both firefighters and worked construction. After a little more talking, we realized that both me and his wife were pharmacist. We were like the mir
ro
r images of each other. Crazy.

Here are a few photos. I have very few to show because Gabe was determined that this was our honeymoon not a photo shoot. I am hoping to surprise Gabe with a trip back this August for our honeymoon.

These were the flowers in our room for us.

I'm Back

Ok, so it has been forever since posting. I am going to try to do better. I have honeymoon pictures to post, house projects, and much more to get up here. I know Anna, I have been disappointing, but I will try to do better. I just need to find the data cable for my camera. Well it has been 6 months or so, so what is one more night while I track down that data cable.

I will start with some photos of when we moved into our new house. Yes, these are from July 2009 and there are still packing boxes everywhere. I will try to get some of our remodeling pictures up soon.

Wedding Photos

It has been a while but Gabe and I finally got the rights to our Wedding Photos. I will start by posting a few. I officially placed the last order for 4x6's of all the photos, but more exciting I ordered some larger prints so I can officially start decorating the house. There are so many more to post...

I love this photo. It was when my daddy saw me for the first time. What a moment.

Louie

Let me start with a disclaimer: I love my dog very much, possibly too much.

BUT

He is a lot of trouble. Last year we had the three tumors removed: one on his eyelid, under his chin and the one on his foot that ultimately caused him to have his toe removed. We couldn't just have one surgery. No, his foot became infected which required another surgery for debridement and antibiotic therapy. By the way, I could have died when I found out we paid $24 for cephalexin. Let me just say I didn't pick him up because I would have had it filled at the pharmacy for 24 cents.

We thought all of this was past us, but a few months ago another tumor came up on his shoulder. This time panicking still from the toe, we immediately took him to the vet. We ended up just having it removed for sake of not having to worry. Everything seemed like it was going good, and Gabe and I removed the stitches Monday night 10 days after the surgery. The next day I get home from work, and was getting ready to bother Louie as always. I looked down at him and noticed that there was a gaping wound. The wound had popped back open. It was like 3 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. It was so nasty you could see the muscle and everything. Anyways it required another office visit and sedation to have it restitched. Why on earth did I think we would get this done in one visit? Gabe and I calculated how much we have spent on vet bills for Louie. Lets just say most people would call us crazy.

So, in honor of my troublesome and costly dog, here are pictures of him over the years. He is very photogenic.

I don't think he was impressed with his pink flashing New Year's crown.

Here is a picture of him right after his toe removal.

He really didn't need this cone, but I made him wear it for a picture.
